B AYHEE PASIKO

I'm not an pedigreed teacher but I do know Buddhism is unique in that doubt and criticism is not discouraged, but rather, encouraged. As I'm sure you know, the buddha said never to take his word for anything but to "come and see" or "test out" for your self (the Pali phrase is Ayhee pasiko if I'm not mistaken). This is not a faith based set of beliefs. If you're going to have faith in anything, it would be faith in the human potential to transform for the better and become something greater than what we perceive to be 'ourselves'. If you're a beginner, take on what is useful and what has practical application in everyday life. If you see results, move forward with greater confidence. There's no conversion process to buddhism. There's nothing that says you must believe everything all at once. As you eluded to, any aspiring buddhist can take on what they have capacity for and grow from there. You threw out the word Annica yourself. See those negative feelings as just that and nothing more.
