BABA LOKNATH PRONAM

Spirituality means many things but to me, it is an all-pervading presence that never leaves. I feel I am home wherever I am.

That alone is worth more than all the money in the world.

Does spirituality exist in modern society?

I am sure it does, now more than ever. Our ideas about it are evolving as well. We have stepped out of the realm of belief into the spheres of neuroscience, quantum physics, and likely, further beyond.

Not only that, but more and more people are having “awaking” experiences. We read about them again and again, right here on Quora.

Can spirituality bring happiness, peace, and prosperity?

Likely not, at least, not of its own.

Spirituality must become the sound foundation for good character, honest work, and an ever-increasing need to do better and be better than the day before.

I’ll share a quote from one of my spiritual teachers:

“To the extent that a horse is made to run, it gains health and cheer and becomes useful.” Lalaji

This is a real key to personal happiness - the more we make effort and take action the stronger, happier - and more capable we become.

It’s not an easy path, but we don’t become great musicians by sitting on the sofa watching Youtube’s of great musicians!

I’ve learned that the spiritual path is always personal, yet, spirituality is a big family of like-minded do-gooder’s, driven by the innate need to follow the quiet inner guidance of conscience.

In the darkest of times, even a small light appears big.

Time to shine!

SPIRITUAL WARRIOR

L BROWN

Online, we face a torrent of negative energy.

From natural calamities and health crises from around the world, to injustices being done and hate being spread in every scroll.

The human heart can only take on so much sadness.

Giving in to negativity can often be too easy.Volume 0%

But fighting back is the only way to help stop its spread.

Becoming a spiritual warrior will help you become strong enough to fight back against negativity.

It helps you spread positivity and support to your community, your friends, family – anyone who needs it.

Becoming a spiritual warrior will test your patience, however.

If you’re up for it, here are 12 ways to help you on your journey.

1. Stop Denying Your Feelings – Especially Negative Ones

It can also feel like a reflex to deny negative emotions. They don’t feel good – and no one wants to feel bad.

So when a wave of sadness hits us, we might be motivated to tuck it away and distract ourselves with alcohol, social media, or just about anything else.

We think it’ll just go away, but it never does.

Spiritual warriors don’t run away from the pain – they face it.

Doctors have shared how by addressing your emotion directly, its intensity will begin to subside.

So paradoxically, running away makes them stay; facing them makes them leave.

2. Seek Wisdom from Your Past

The past might still haunt us, causing us to say, “I shouldn’t have done/said that”, or “If only things were different.” The past might be filled with pain and regret.

But that past is just what it is: the past. It’s done.

Instead of keeping the events on playback in your mind, it might be wiser to learn from them.

Sometimes, our greatest suffering might also teach us the lessons we needed to learn the most.

3. Learn to Command Your Attention

With every scroll on social media, there’s bound to be some new exciting ad or funny video out to grab your attention.

We may inevitably fall for it.

Then we spend precious time watching something that doesn’t even add any value to our lives.

Getting your attention back is crucial.

Injecting stillness and mindfulness into your life doesn’t need to be complicated.

When you’re walking, pay attention to how your feet land on the ground.

When you’re lying down, pay attention to the texture of the fabric of your bed sheet.

The more you make an effort to command your attention, the better you’ll be at avoiding distractions.

One of the best ways to command your attention is to set goals that actually matter to you.

I learned about this from Life Journal, created by the highly-successful life coach and teacher Jeanette Brown.

You see, willpower only takes us so far…the key to transforming your life into something you’re passionate and enthusiastic about takes perseverance, a shift in mindset, and effective goal setting.

And while this might sound like a mighty task to undertake, thanks to Jeanette’s guidance, it’s been easier to do than I could have ever imagined.

Now, you may wonder what makes Jeanette’s course different from all the other personal development programs out there.

It all comes down to one thing:

Jeanette isn’t interested in being your life coach.

Instead, she wants YOU to take the reins in creating the life you’ve always dreamt of having.

After all, if you want to be spiritual warrior, it’s crucial to have purpose and goals you’re working towards.

So if you’re ready to stop dreaming and start living your best life, a life created on your terms, one which fulfills and satisfies you, don’t hesitate to check out Life Journal.

4. Set Daily Spiritual Practices

Whether you’re walking or doing yoga, finding stillness every day will help you build the habit that spiritual warriors need to fight the negativity of the days.

Think of it like working out.

You can’t get the muscles and toned body you want if you don’t put in the consistent effort, no matter how small the daily gains might appear.

Over time, by having a daily practice, it will be shocking to see just how much you’ve progressed by taking just small steps consistently.

A daily spiritual practice doesn’t need to be complicated too.

In fact, try to make it as simple as possible so doing it every day becomes too easy not to do.

Maybe before going to eat lunch, you can sit quietly for 5-7 minutes.

Or you can do a short yoga stretch to wind down from a day of work.

5. Practice Humility

There might be times when our pride gets in the way of doing the right thing.

We don’t want to embarrass ourselves by asking clarifying questions at work, so we stay silent, increasing the odds of making a mistake on the project.

Or we don’t want to appear to be the clumsy person in the family, so we don’t take responsibility for the spills and messes we made around the house.

A spiritual warrior is accountable.

People can rely on them to get the job done, as well as admit to mistakes if they’ve committed any.

Learning to take responsibility for your actions is the best way to improve yourself moving forward.

6. Learn to Control Your Emotions

There might be someone being difficult to talk to. They’re infuriating and you’re close to losing your cool.

Often, anger can make us do or say things we’ll eventually regret.

That’s why, a way to control your emotions might be to, before responding to someone, try to hold yourself back and count to 10.

Take a deep breath and compose your thoughts.

You might even realize that this was a trivial thing to get so worked up about anyway.

Anger blinds you from doing the right thing.

By learning to accept your anger but not letting it consume you totally, you’ll be able to learn how to build up the emotional endurance to help others when they need someone to talk to.

7. Do Things that Scare You

Astronaut Chris Hadfield once said, “Things aren’t scary; people are scared.”

It’s always after doing something scary that we realize that we really had nothing to be afraid about.

These are moments of significant spiritual growth.

Fear holds your potential back, which can become a major hindrance to achieving your goals in life and helping others.

Maybe you can try speaking up about your thoughts and emotions at work or try to strike a conversation with that person that you’ve been attracted to this whole time.

Doing small things that scare you will build your courage over time.

And if doing the right thing takes courage, you’re going to need to be prepared for it as a spiritual warrior.

8. Learn to Accept

There are an infinite amount of things outside of our control: the weather on a special day, the past, what others think of you.

Most stress in life comes from wanting to change the things outside of our control.

The key to relieving stress is acceptance.

It’s the gateway to your enlightenment.

Accepting doesn’t mean standing idly by.

You can’t change something if you don’t first accept its reality.

Instead of complaining about how people in power treat the less fortunate, learn to accept it for what it is.

Then, you can learn the best way to change the systems from the inside, how to speak up and influence real change in the real world.

9. Be There for Others

A hero has strength for two.

When you’re having a difficult time continuing on your journey, always remember who or what you’re doing this for:

To help your community become more connected with each other; to provide for your family so they live good lives.

If you see your friend is sobbing after losing their job, be there to comfort them.

You don’t even need to say anything to them.

Just being there, being a shoulder they can cry on would already be enough to help them through their pain.

A spiritual warrior doesn’t fight for no reason.

10. Find Your Tribe

While we are social beings, sometimes the people that we surround ourselves with might stifle our own growth.

You might have good chemistry with a certain group of people, but all they do is gossip and spread hate.

This is just the kind of negative energy that you need to fight against, not be a part of.

So instead, try to find people that share in your passion to make the world a happier and more welcome place for others. Spiritual warriors don’t fight alone.

11. Ask Yourself: Are You Driven by Fear or Love?

Everything we do in life, at its core, is driven by one of two things: because we’re afraid, or because we’re passionate.

Acting out of fear is unsustainable.

Living life afraid of failure will only make it more difficult to produce art that changes the way people think and feel.

But being driven by love will overpower any criticisms or failures.

It’s because you’re passionately driven to fulfill a greater purpose: to help others.

And no failure can stop you.

12. Have Patience

As we’re exposed to more and more content online, research has suggested that our attention spans narrow with it.

You may know how it feels. You hop from one video to the next, or trends go from one viral hit to another.

Our patience is eroding. But that’s exactly what you need to become a spiritual warrior.

It’s like martial arts. You don’t get a black belt after just one week of training. It takes years.

But ultimately, the goal of becoming a spiritual warrior isn’t actually to be called one: it’s to act like one.

Being a Spiritual Warrior

Being a spiritual warrior isn’t like a badge to earn. It’s a lifestyle to live by.

There may not be a clear moment where you suddenly “become” a spiritual warrior.

But that shouldn’t matter. What matters more is how you live out your days as one.

Help out people in need. Reach out to friends who may be going through a difficult time, emotionally.

Living as a spiritual warrior is your path to becoming one.

Putting yourself first

Hey, Lachlan from Hack Spirit here.

What’s your number one goal at the moment?

Is it to buy that car you’ve been saving up for?

To finally start that side-hustle that’ll hopefully help you quit your 9-5 one day?

Or to take the leap and finally ask your partner to move in?

Whatever it is, you’re not going to get there, unless you’ve got a plan.

And even then…plans fail.
