“I am,” the feeling of being that is impersonal. Not “I am Mike” or “I am a
plumber” or “I am happy” but just “I am,” the feeling of being that has no
name, no definition.
By silently repeating this with every breath and focusing on the feeling of
being, you will begin to feel the bliss that is being. And if you continue with it,
it evolves into deeper levels of realization. But don't try and jump ahead.
Focus on the feeling of being and let it evolve naturally.

MNDFL X JAPA
Japa. Japa is the silent repetition of a divine name or mantra. It can be
a name of God that you feel connected to if you have one. Or it could be a
mantra or even just a sound like “Om.” Here are a few forms of Japa:
MNDFL X ALLOW THIS MOMENT TO BE
Allow this moment to be. In my experience, this is the most important
meditation technique to master. It is not really a technique, it is meditation.
If you allow your experience to be, you are no longer actively involved with it.
You have relaxed out of involving yourself with it and are at peace. So allow
emotions, allow physical sensations and allow thinking.
When you allow thinking to be, you are no longer caught up in thinking. You
are aware. You are resting as awareness. You have not separated yourself
from your thinking, you have simply expanded beyond it. In this way, you
very naturally experience the level of reality that is beyond thinking.
MEDITN
So meditation is giving our attention to that which is beyond thinking. The
more we give our attention to this unconditional peace, the more peace
becomes our reality. The more we give our attention to awareness, then the
one consciousness that is peace, that is joy becomes our reality.
It does not weaken our normal mental perception in anyway. Rather, it opens
up another level of reality that is always here. It awakens us to the essential
reality that is pure joy. And this joy washes through every aspect of our
experience. It brings goodness to the physical, emotional and even mental
experience. It dissolves stress, fear, aggression, negativity and leaves us
feeling the goodness that is at the essence of everything.
ME NOT SEPARATE FROM COSMOS
Where we place our attention determines our reality.
If you place your attention on thinking, then your reality
is defined by your thinking.
If you place your attention on the peace, bliss or
awareness that is beyond thinking, then infinite peace
and bliss becomes your reality.
If you are worrying about something and caught up in the thinking about it,
your experience is stress and fear. If you are thinking about some unhappy
memory, you experience unhappiness.
If in your thinking, you project into the future about something bad happening,
you also experience unhappiness, even though the thing hasn't happened!
It all depends on where we put our attention.
In the realm of thinking, you experience duality; separation. You are this
individual person that is separate from everything, separate from the world,
separate from peace, separate from love, separate from joy.
Where we place our attention determines our reality.
Where we place our attention determines our reality.

Jaques didn’t claim to be the first to detect this midlife change. He pointed out that, in the 14th century, Dante Alighieri’s protagonist in The Divine Comedy—who scholars say is 35—famously declares at the beginning of the book, “Midway upon the journey of our life / I found myself within a forest dark / For the straightforward pathway had been lost.”
But Jaques offered a modern, clinical explanation, and—crucially—he gave the experience a name: the “mid life crisis.”
MD LYF CRSS
This period is sparked by the realization that their lives are halfway over, and that death isn’t just something that happens to someone else: It will happen to them, too.
He described a depressed 36-year-old patient who told his therapist, “Up till now, life has seemed an endless upward slope, with nothing but the distant horizon in view. Now suddenly I seem to have reached the crest of the hill, and there stretching ahead is the downward slope with the end of the road in sight—far enough away, it’s true—but there is death observably present at the end.”
mlc
The midlife crisis was invented in London in 1957. That’s when a 40-year-old Canadian named Elliott Jaques stood before a meeting of the British Psycho-Analytical Society and read aloud from a paper he’d written.
Addressing about a hundred attendees, Jaques claimed that people in their mid-30s typically experience a depressive period lasting several years. Jaques (pronounced “Jacks”)—a physician and psychoanalyst—said he’d identified this phenomenon by studying the lives of great artists, in whom it takes an extreme form. In ordinary people symptoms could include religious awakenings, promiscuity, a sudden inability to enjoy life, “hypochondriacal concern over health and appearance,” and “compulsive attempts” to remain young.

Fundamental to the discussion in this chapter is a distinction between two terms crucial to Theravada philosophical exposition, „mundane“ (lokiya) and „supramundane“ (lokuttara). The term „mundane“ applies to all phenomena comprised in the world (loka) - to subtle states of consciousness as well as matter, to virtue as well as evil, to meditative attainments as well as sensual engrossments. The term „supramundane,“ in contrast, applies exclusively to that which transcends the world, that is, the nine supramundane states: Nibbāna, the four noble paths (magga) leading to Nibbāna, and their corresponding fruits (phala) which experience the bliss of Nibbāna.

MHO
Which Predictors Differentiate Between Obese Children and Adolescents with Cardiometabolic Complications and Those with Metabolically Healthy Obesity (MHO)?
First published: 26 May 2018
Abstract
Background/Aims
Childhood obesity and associated metabolic comorbidities is a major global health concern. Metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) may represent a subgroup of individuals in which excessive body fat accumulation does not lead to adverse metabolic effects.
We aimed to determine the prevalence of MHO among obese Israeli children and adolescents and to find predictors for metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO).
Methods
In a retrospective study, demographic, anthropometric, lifestyle, and cardiometabolic data were retrieved from medical records of patients with a BMI >95th percentile aged 6‐17.6 years, attending a tertiary pediatric obesity clinic between 2008‐2015, with at least one year of follow‐up.
Participants were dichotomized as either MHO or MUO based on cardiometabolic risk factor clustering (blood pressure, serum lipids, and glucose). Multivariable logistic regression was used to determine predictors of MUO.
Results
Of the 230 children (median age 9.9 years) fulfilling study criteria, 48 (20.9%) were classified as MHO. Occurrence of MUO was associated with male gender, Arabic ethnicity, higher BMI‐SDS, higher Tri‐ponderal mass index (TMI), and higher insulin resistance (presence of acanthosis nigricans and a higher level of HOMA‐IR). Male gender (OR 2.27, p=0.033), presence of acanthosis nigricans at baseline (OR 2.35, p=0.035), and a greater increase in BMI‐SDS during follow‐up (OR 2.82, p=0.05) were the best predictors of MUO.
Conclusions
The MHO phenotype was present in only 20.9% of obese Israeli children. MUO was significantly associated with male gender, with presence of acanthosis nigricans, and with a greater increase in BMI‐SDS during follow‐up.

Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Bronchiolitis is the most common reason for hospitalization of children worldwide. Many scoring systems have been developed to quantify respiratory distress and predict outcome, but none of them have been validated. We hypothesized that the ultrasound evaluation of the diaphragm could quantify respiratory distress and therefore we correlated the ultrasound diaphragm parameters with outcome.
METHODS:
Prospective study of infants with bronchiolitis (1-12 months) evaluated in a pediatric emergency department. Ultrasonography examinations of the diaphragm was performed (diaphragm excursion [DE], inspiratory excursion [IS], inspiratory/expiratory relationship [I/E], and thickness at end-expiration [TEE] and at end-inspiration [TEI]; thickening fraction [TF]).
RESULTS:
We evaluated 61 infants, 50.8 % males. Mean TF was 47% (IQR 28.6-64.7), mean I/E 0.47 (± 0.15), mean DE 10.39 ± 4 mm. There was a linear correlation between TF and oxygen saturation at first evaluation (P = 0.006, r = 0.392). All children with lower values of TF required HFNC and one of them required CPAP. A higher IS was associated with the future need of respiratory support during admission (P = 0.007). IS correlated with the hours of oxygen delivery needed (P = 0.032, r = 0.422). TEI (t = 3.701, P = 0.002) was found to be main predictor of hours of oxygen delivery needed.
CONCLUSION:
This study described ultrasound diaphragmatic values of previously healthy infants with bronchiolitis. DE, IS, and TEI correlated with outcome. If confirmed in larger studies, bedside ultrasound semiology of the diaphragm can be a new objective tool for the evaluation and outcome prediction of infants with bronchiolitis.

MINOR MV CRASH
National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) defined a minor motor vehicle crash and all criteria must apply as:
- "The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site.
- The vehicle door nearest the car seat was not damaged.
- None of the passengers in the vehicle sustained any injuries in the crash.
- If the vehicle has air bags, the air bags did not deploy during the crash; and
- There is no visible damage to the car seat.

FLORA FAUNA LOSS BY GLOBAL HEATING
The authors based their findings on the current trajectory of global warming, which is on pace to increase global temperatures by 3.2 degrees Celsiuscompared to pre-industrial levels.
They looked at 31,000 insect species, 8,000 bird species, 1,700 mammal species, 1,800 reptile species, 1,000 amphibian species, and 71,000 species of plants, according to Quartz, and found consistent geographical declines across the animal kingdom.
Insects fared worst in this analysis, with 50% of species losing more than half of their overall ranges if temperatures increased by 3.2 degrees celsius.
An estimated 44% of plants would lose half their overall range, compared to 26% of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish facing the same decline.

EINSTN
“A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self.
We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.”
~ Albert Einstein, 1954.

It is not enough to intellectually understand the nature of mind. We have to get rid of the veils that obscure it, and the best way to do so is to generate the bodhichitta, the ‟mind of enlightenment,” which is the supreme intention to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. That is the only way to discover true enlightenment or, in other words, to become buddha.
