NN RESUS

Stabilisation flowchart starts with two blue boxes with text 'NEUTRAL position, 2-person JAW, THRUST, OROPHARYNGEAL, airway’ and 'MASK inflation & Ventilation, OXYGEN, Nasogastric tube, SATURATION monitoring' boxes have a two way arrow linking text to the actions to be undertaken for stabilisation. The top two way arrow points to a box with text ‘Open AIRWAY’ which in turn has an arrow pointing downwards describing the resuscitation process to a box to with text ‘Assess BREATHING’, with an arrow down to ‘Assess CIRCULATION, Cyanosis, Pallor, Perfusion, Heart rate’. This box has an arrow pointing down to a box with text 'COMMUNICATION, DOCUMENTATION'. A two way arrow links the second and third columns of the algorithm depicting the need to revert to actions under ‘stabilisation’ in babies who may have 'Irregular/ineffective, breaths, Rapid breathing, Nasal flaring, Tracheal tug, Recessions, Sternal recession, Grunting, or Stridor', the action to be taken is to revert to the ‘baby needing stabilisation’. A large yellow arrow/text box includes text relating to thermoregulatory principles: 'Baby must be WARM, Wrap in warm dry towels, CLOSE windows & doors, Use radiant heat where able, Consider thermal mattress'. A white arrow text box to the right of the yellow arrow prompts to 'ASK FORHELP: Follow your local procedures for seeking help, Call 999'
