Bhagavad Gita
— Chapter 15, Verse 7
Sanskrit (15.7):
ममैवांशो जीवलोके जीवभूतः सनातनः ।
मनःषष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति ॥
English Translation:
“The eternal individual soul in this world is a part of Me.
But bound by the six senses (including the mind), it struggles in nature.”
🧠 Meaning (Simple Explanation)
- The verse teaches that the individual soul (jiva) is a part of the Supreme Reality.
- However, because of attachment to the mind and senses, it experiences struggle in the material world.
- Liberation comes when one realizes their true divine nature.
This verse emphasizes both:
- The unity between the soul and the Divine
- And the reason why humans feel limitation and suffering
If you would like, I can explain:
- The philosophical meaning in depth
- Or how this verse relates to Advaita philosophy
- Or provide commentary from different traditions 😊
