BG 15.7. ममैवांशो जीवलोके जीवभूतः सनातनः

📖

Bhagavad Gita

 — Chapter 15, Verse 7

Sanskrit (15.7):

ममैवांशो जीवलोके जीवभूतः सनातनः ।

मनःषष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति ॥

English Translation:

“The eternal individual soul in this world is a part of Me.

But bound by the six senses (including the mind), it struggles in nature.”

🧠 Meaning (Simple Explanation)

  • The verse teaches that the individual soul (jiva) is a part of the Supreme Reality.
  • However, because of attachment to the mind and senses, it experiences struggle in the material world.
  • Liberation comes when one realizes their true divine nature.

This verse emphasizes both:

  • The unity between the soul and the Divine
  • And the reason why humans feel limitation and suffering

If you would like, I can explain:

  • The philosophical meaning in depth
  • Or how this verse relates to Advaita philosophy
  • Or provide commentary from different traditions 😊
