Anapanasati Sutta
The Anapanasati Sutta (“Discourse on Mindfulness of Breathing”) is a foundational teaching of the Gautama Buddha. In it, the Buddha explains how mindful breathing develops deep meditation and leads to awakening.
Core Idea
By observing the breath with awareness, a practitioner cultivates concentration, insight, and ultimately liberation.
The 16 Steps (Grouped into 4 Foundations)
The practice unfolds in four tetrads (groups of four), aligned with the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.
