What to watch for to predict more severe infection
The average time for worsening progression is 1 week after the onset of symptoms; consider checking on your patients during this time. The main sign suggesting progression of the disease is worsening pulmonary status, including dyspnea, tachycardia, and hypoxia. If you are following a patient at home, consider getting a home pulse oximeter, with a goal of 93% or greater on room air.
