A high level of serum ferritin, defined as 149.2 mg/mL or higher, was associated with a 43% greater risk of type 2 diabetes among adults, while a median level of serum ferritin was associated with a 20% greater risk of developing the disease compared with those with lower levels, according to a study in Journal of Diabetes Investigation.
