TAKE-HOME MESSAGE
- This prospective cohort study used data from the UK Biobank study to compare cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality outcomes in 427,678 individuals based on whether they habitually took fish oil supplements based on survey data. Habitual fish oil supplement use was reported by 31.2% of participants. In a multivariable analysis, habitual fish oil users versus non-users had lower hazard ratios for CVD mortality (HR, 0.84), incident CVD events (HR, 0.93), and all-cause mortality (HR, 0.87).
