Greg Belles, Remote Paramedic in Alaska (1986-present)
Not a heart warming story for sure, it changed me forever.
Christmas Eve, I forget the year, they have all run together after so many. We get a call from a wife that her husband was not feeling well. Upon arrival we find him in cardiac arrest, unknown down time. My partner had to step out to the unit, radios for some reason would not work in the house. Long story short- mans son walks into the room, he was a little fellow about 7 or 8 years old and wise beyond his years. He looked me in the eye and told me-- if you help my daddy, Santa can keep all my gifts. We did all that we could do but never got the gentleman back. It was not a good Christmas that year.
