The population was 1 billion at the start of the 19th century which has
now grown to nearly 8 billion 20 years into the 21st century. The figures
also reveal that more and more souls have inhabited this world of forms
over a span of the last 220 years.

The important point to remember here is that even though, we often think
of suffering as something that destroys us mentally, emotionally and at
times, even physically, its real aim is to empower us with inner resilience,
humility, intuitive intelligence, and spiritual strength. And it does so by
driving us towards greater self-awareness.

Our past influences our present. Our present influences the future, which
becomes our present at some point and subsequently becomes our past as
well. And like this, we move from one life or life experience to another,
ever connected to our past and ever driven by the law of cause and effect.

Rapamycin, a molecule extracted from bacteria in the soil of Easter
Island, inhibits the mTOR pathway, which is the yin to the AMPK
pathway’s yang. If AMPK is the brake pedal, mTOR is the accelerator,
ramping up protein production, growth, and cell division. It’s usually
hijacked in cancer, causing runaway cell division. Rapamycin stops the
mTOR pathway, with many of the same downstream effects as stimulating
AMPK. Its suppressive effects on the mTOR pathway have led to the
widespread use of rapamycin to aid cancer treatments and suppress immune
response and tissue rejection in transplant recipients.
