OCEAN METAPHOR B GITA
11.28 As the many waves of the rivers flow into the ocean, so do all these great warriors enter blazing into Your mouths.

Ocean metaphors for liberation are used by both impersonalists and personalists, but in significantly different ways. Impersonalists hold that our consciousness is like a drop, and liberation is like the drop entering into the ocean and merging therein. In contrast, personalists hold that our consciousness is like a river, and just as the river constantly keeps flowing through the ocean, similarly great devotees like Kunti Maharani pray that may our consciousness always flow towards the ocean. So, the flow of consciousness towards the ocean conveys the eternal reciprocation of love between the devotee and the Lord; and the Lord is unlimited like the ocean.
