- This case-control study of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) (n=171) evaluated retinal neurovascular changes in these patients. The patients were found to have reduced parafoveal retinal thickness, macular ganglion cell complex thickness, and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness, along with increased global loss volume and focal loss volume when they were compared with controls (n=40).
- Patients with CKD demonstrated significant retinal neurovascular changes that correlated with disease severity.
