M STROKE X CRAO
- In this systematic review and meta-analysis of six studies reporting the incidence of MRI-detected acute cerebral ischemia among patients with central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), branch retinal artery occlusion (BRAO), or transient monocular vision loss (TMVL), the pooled estimate of acute cerebral ischemia incidence was 30% among patients with CRAO and 25% among patients with BRAO. The rate of acute cerebral ischemia was 11.8% among patients with TMVL.
- These findings emphasize the need for a prompt referral of patients with CRAO and BRAO for a neurological assessment and brain imaging.
