Bhagavad Gita 11.55
Sanskrit:
मत्कर्मकृन्मत्परमो मद्भक्तः सङ्गवर्जितः ।
निर्वैरः सर्वभूतेषु यः स मामेति पाण्डव ॥
Transliteration:
mat-karma-kṛn mat-paramo mad-bhaktaḥ saṅga-varjitaḥ
nirvairaḥ sarva-bhūteṣu yaḥ sa mām eti pāṇḍava
Meaning (simple):
One who works for Me, makes Me the supreme goal, is devoted to Me, free from attachment, and without hatred toward any being — that person comes to Me, O Arjuna.
This verse concludes Chapter 11, summarizing the path: dedicated action + devotion + detachment + non-hatred.
At the end of the ninth chapter, Shree Krishna had told Arjun to fix his mind upon him and be devoted to him. To enhance that devotion, he wished to reveal further secrets about himself, which he did in the tenth and eleventh chapters. In the previous verse, he again emphasized the supremacy of the path of devotion. Now, *He concludes this chapter by highlighting five characteristics of those who are engaged in exclusive devotion*
- Perform all their duties for My sake,
- Depend upon Me
- Are devoted to Me
- Are free from attachment,
- Are without malice toward all beings
