B NOT NIHILISM

 A

BGT — How Buddhism Is Not Nihilism

Nihilism says: my life is meaningless.

Buddhism dissolves the “my life” part. Without a fixed self, there’s no “owner” of meaning or meaninglessness.

Intellectual belief isn’t enough. Practice—meditation, inquiry, felt attention—erodes the sense of a separate self.

No-self isn’t I’m nothing. It’s: the “I” you thought existed never was. Ego, grand or small, still counts as self. Let go of it, and the trap of meaning vs. meaninglessness disappears.

You still live. People still exist. Life still happens. But the suffering caused by clinging to a self evaporates.
