AUTOPILOTING THE PRESENT
Contacting the present moment means being psychologically present: consciously connecting with and engaging in whatever is happening in this moment. Humans find it very hard to stay present. Like other humans, we know how easy it is to get caught up in our thoughts and lose touch with the world around us. We may spend a lot of time absorbed in thoughts about the past or the future. Or instead of being fully conscious of our experience, we may operate on automatic pilot, merely “going through the motions.” Contacting the present moment means flexibly bringing our awareness to either the physical world around us or the psychological world within us, or to both simultaneously

Yes.
Being aware of your awareness simply means finding the neutral, uninvolved witness that’s just watching everything dispassionately. You can find this the very first time you sit in meditation.
Many people can find it even walking down the street, without being in closed-eyed meditation.
It’s simply obvious that there is a part of you - mind - that’s having thoughts, feelings and body sensations, and responding to them, or outright identifying with them (“That’s who I am”) and a part that’s just noticing all the above, including the mind that’s reacting to all these phenomena, while itself is not the mind and is not reacting…just aware of it, pure Awareness.
Once you’ve found that, and are aware of that Awareness, you’re done. Practicing remaining in or resting in that Awareness, witnessing everything from that non-place ‘place’ that can never be anything but stillness and peace, is all you ever need do.
Anything else, any other practice you add to that, is manipulation.
You are aware of your Awareness, you know you are that Awareness, your True Identity, and you know that any phenomena rising & falling that your Awareness sees, including your body, judgments, desires and ‘achievements,’ are just Reality, everything just as it Is, living through “you” until your body dies.
So what else could you want? What other ‘spiritual’ awarenesses or ‘accomplishments’ could you yearn for or focus on?
If you want more than just being aware of your Awareness and resting in that, that’s not enlightenment, that’s just ego-desire, and any efforts or practices you make in that direction are just ego-manipulation.
But because of our ego attachment, we all tend to make some of those efforts and try out some other practices anyway :-) Silly “us!”
Just rest in your Awareness and enjoy your Self :-)
