as far as your conscious experience is concerned, you are the basis of the existence. You know everything that exists because you exist. So, your existence is an absolute prerequisite to know the existence of anything else. Whatever that you know as existing keeps changing; one thing that remains constant is the the subject, the observer self, the one which witnesses everything that exists. This unchanging observer is more real when you compare it with the reality of the objects which are observed. As we already discussed, in Vedanta, the definition of that which is real is the one which never changes. This unchanging absolute reality aspect is named as sat or truth

“Radical acceptance rests on letting go of the illusion of control and a willingness to notice and accept things as they are right now, without judging,” Marsha Linehan
According to Gītā what determines your next birth is antim-smaraṇa - the thoughts which occupy your mind at the moment of death - i.e. when you separate from the body. And the thoughts that will spontaneously arise are those which were dominant throughout your life.
So theoretically if you focus hard enough you will accomplish that - but usually no matter how hard you speculate about this project - when the plane is about to crash or the truck is about to hit you - some expletive will usually come to mind!

Buddha took 45 years to teach them and 500 Arahats - Noble Disciples collected his teaching after he passed to Nibbana.
Then they passed it down orally generation after generation and 500 years later, they wrote it down due to famine, decease spread, war etc. and couldn’t lose the Dhamma together with learned monks. They wrote it down on palm leaves in a country now called Sri Lanka. It was not because they were environmental friendly but because China didn’t invent paper and exported to them yet.
2,500 years after Buddha passed to Nibbana, there was Sixth Sanga Council hold and crossed check the text from Theravada branches from eight countries and they certified all of them - original Pitaka, commentaries and sub commentaries.
A monk who knows by heart all Tipitaka is called Dhamma Treasurar or Keeper of Dhamma Treasure. Ancient time there was a war to get Tipitaka.
But, you can read most of Dhamma free online and find out what was taught to human kind 2,600 years ago. The original recording language is Pali and it was not an everyday language anymore. But, thanks to the monks, it is not a mystery language like Egyptian but just to save Buddhist scriptures.

KRSNA X BANANA PEELS
Shortly after rejecting Duryodhana’s opulent feast, Krishna went to Vidura’s house. Vidura was Krishna’s devotee, and was also very affectionate to Arjuna and his four brothers. In fact, on several occasions he had saved them from great danger. Because of this, Krishna was very fond of Vidura.
When Krishna got to Vidura’s house, Vidura was not there, so Krishna pleaded with his wife Viduräëé, “Oh, Vidurani Maiya, I am so hungry! Please give Me something to eat.”
Vidurani was very affectionate to Krishna, and she was anxious to serve Him. She began to offer Him bananas, but in her confusion, she threw away the fruit and gave Him the peels. Krishna affectionately accepted the peels, and relished them joyfully.
They tasted sweeter to Him than all the preparations and offerings made in Dvaraka by his chief queens Rukmini and Satyabhama. While Krishna was completely absorbed in accepting Viduräëé’s offering of banana peels, Vidura came in.
He was astonished at what he saw, and exclaimed, “Oh, Vidurani! What are you doing?”
Krishna tried to caution him, “Don’t speak to her. She is not in her external senses. She is fully absorbed in transcendental love and affection.”
Vidurani, however, came back to external consciousness when she heard her husband speak, and soon realised what was happening. She then gave Krishna the fruit of the bananas and threw away the peels.
Krishna was a little disappointed. “Oh! This fruit is not as tasty as the peels were.”
