When I was a young reporter living in the Middle East I could go to India as I did, for example, in 1971 to cover the Indo-Pak War, and I would go off in the morning and cover something and then I would take the film and send it down to Dum-Dum Airport in Calcutta, and someone would hand-carry it to Bangkok if I were lucky, and then hand-carry it on to Tokyo where they’d process it and put it on the satellite to Los Angeles and land-line it to California—that’s the process just to get the film back.
