How do we know that these ideas have any objective reality? Do you know this saying “to a man with a hammer everything looks like a nail”? Science is a hammer. Enlightenment is a flower. If you take a hammer to a flower, all you will do is destroy the flower. Science is a hammer, a hammer is a useful tool. There are other tools. Like spirituality. Spirituality is the tool most appropriate to exploring enlightenment, nirvana and samsara.
