Red flags indicating risk for aspiration during oral feedings
  • During feeding
  • Gagging
  • Choking
  • Food refusal
  • Apnea
  • Cyanosis
  • Taking >30 min/feeding
  • Directly after feeding
  • Difference in respiratory quality
    • Sounding “wet/congested”
    • Wheezing
    • Coughing
  • Over time
  • Recurrent pneumonias
  • Failure to thrive
