49. Atma
The atma (soul) is not merely a combination of the mind and the body. The atma is all‑encompassing.
All the yoga postures you practise are for the body.
All the meditations you do are for the mind.
Whether the mind is calm or disturbed, it remains the mind.
Whether the body is sick or healthy, it remains the body.
The purpose of the body’s existence is to remind you of how beautiful you are —
and to make it possible for you to manifest in your life all the ideals you revere,
and to create around yourself a divine world.
Desireless service,
Love without reason,
Knowledge beyond the intellect,
Life beyond time and events —
This is what you truly are.

If you want, I can also provide a more poetic version, a simplified version, or an interpretive commentary.
