There is an epidemic in brain diseases, which have quadrupled in the last 21 years. Living near green spaces is linked to a lower risk of dementia, new research finds. People living near green spaces are likely more physically active and may have more social interactions — both protective factors against dementia. In contrast, those living within 50 metres of a major road or 150 metres of a highway have an increased risk of dementia. One of the likely causes is air pollution.
