Study: Barbershop screenings may help ID diabetes in black men
A research published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that community-based diabetes testings in barbershops may help identify undiagnosed diabetes among black men. Researchers screened 290 black men for diabetes at eight different barbershops and found that 10% of them had elevated blood glucose levels that qualified as diabetes, while 28.3% had levels that qualified as prediabetes.
