Step 3: Stop eating bad carbs. Avoid eating things like white flour, refined sugar, or white rice. All of these foods have been stripped of anything that is good for you. They digest quickly, but cause short lived energy followed by a bad crash. This means that you should pretty much avoid any packaged foods or things that are “quick.” For long-lasting energy and stable insulin levels, choose “good” or complex carbs such as whole grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables.
