Cavum cordis — the cavity of the heart
Cavum cordis is Latin for “cavity of the heart” (cavum = hollow or cavity; cordis = of the heart).
In anatomical terms, it can refer generally to the space inside the heart. The human heart has four chambers:
- Right atrium
- Left atrium
- Right ventricle
- Left ventricle
There is also an intriguing spiritual connection to your mention of God-centre and Sri Ramakrishna.
In Hindu spiritual traditions, the heart can signify the innermost seat of spiritual awareness. In yogic philosophy, the Anāhata chakra is associated with the heart region. Sri Ramakrishna spoke of seeking and realising God through sincere devotion and inner spiritual experience.
However, the anatomical cavity of the heart and the spiritual heart are distinct concepts. There is no established anatomical evidence that the cavum cordis is a literal physical location of God.
What connection are you exploring? Is it the idea that the cavum cordis is the physical centre corresponding to the Divine within, as understood through Sri Ramakrishna’s teachings?
