Bhagavad Gita 12.8 is part of Lord Krishna’s teaching to Arjuna on devotion.
Verse (Sanskrit – common transliteration)
Mayy eva mana adhatsva mayi buddhim niveshaya
Nivasisyasi mayy eva ata urdhvam na samsayah
Meaning (simple translation)
Krishna says:
“Fix your mind on Me alone.
Place your intellect in Me.
Then you will dwell in Me always—there is no doubt.”
Core idea
This verse is about single-pointed devotion (bhakti). Krishna is telling Arjuna that liberation and peace come when:
- the mind (thoughts/attention) is centered on the Divine
- the intellect (judgment/understanding) is aligned with that focus
- and life becomes steady through that inner anchoring
Practical interpretation
It’s less about literal thinking and more about:
- training attention away from constant mental noise
- orienting values, decisions, and awareness toward something higher or steady
- developing emotional stability through devotion or deep focus
