EIB BRONCHOSPASM has been reported to occur in up to 80% to 90% of individuals with known asthma and in 10% of the general population without any asthma history. Some believe that all asthmatics will develop EIB given a sufficient exercise load.
Generally it takes 5 to 8 minutes of strenuous exercise to invoke EIB, and symptoms peak 5 to 10 minutes after cessation of exercise before dissipating at 30 minutes.
