There’s no record in the Bible of Jesus Christ saying anything like “you are just a tool” to Pontius Pilate.

However, there is a statement that’s somewhat related in meaning. In the Gospel of John (John 19:11), Jesus tells Pilate:

“You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.”

What this implies:

  • Pilate’s authority is not absolute

  • His power is granted (or permitted) by a higher authority (God)

  • It subtly suggests Pilate is an instrument within a larger divine plan

So while Jesus doesn’t call him a “tool,” the idea that Pilate’s role is limited and dependent on something higher is definitely present.
