From the perspective of space alien scientist studying earth from afar, the earth is going through an accelerating conversion process turning soil into concrete and asphalt and the atmosphere into carbon dioxide. And the humans are the catalyst of this great "fire", no more no less. It's only us humans assigning nonexistent meaning to all these chemical/biological/physical commotions calling it "civilization", "history", etc., and then call ourselves exalted.
