Despite suffering from dictatorship and poverty for decades, Myanmar ranks first on the World Giving Index, meaning that its citizens are the most generous and empathetic people on Earth. This is probably connected to the nation’s relatively high literacy rate of over 90 percent. It seems that access to reading and literature has made the country a more empathetic place
