DESIRE X 2ND ARROW-My take on it is, there's the feeling of desire itself, which is almost like a sense experience, but then there's anxiety that can be layered on top of desire for a number of reasons, many of which involve fear. Maybe you're afraid that you won't get your desire fulfilled and that you'll be unhappy as a result. Maybe you're afraid that your desire is "wrong" and you're afraid to feel it at all. In the parable of the two arrows, the Buddha describes how experiencing one unavoidable unpleasant experience is like getting shot with an arrow. You can't do much about that. This in your case would be the basic feeling of craving. However, sticking with that original unpleasant experience and agonizing over it and adding extra layers to it is like getting shot with a second arrow because you didn't move out of the way after you got shot the first time. A simple way to avoid the extra layers of fear that go along with your experience is to try to sit with the original feeling of desire for a little while, with an emphasis on the physical manifestation of the feeling. This can 1) be like exposure therapy in that you learn that this feeling is nothing to be afraid of in the first place and 2) may give you some insight as to why you feel desire, what to do about it, and why you feel fear with it.
